Monday 9th September  Today was our first official day back at college and our chance to start officially working with our new first years. We started the year as usual by an introduction to some acting techniques and the Ghost light tours. Improvisation The first half of the morning consisted of getting us back into the rhythm of acting and out of our own headspace, as that is key to being a good actor. We did this by focusing on improvisation. We started with some warm up games we have done before, such as 'What are you doing?' and 'Yes, Lets' which got everyone comfortable in the space and provided an introduction to the day.  Auditions The auditions for the end of year shows were a different approach and something i have never experienced before. Kelly didn't want us to audition for a specific character this time and wanted us to prepare a monologue to show her. This monologue had to show what i can do, my capabilities as an actor and something new she hasn't seen from me before. The point of this was to showcase my talent without saying what role i want, so she can see what skills i have and what role suits me based on my acting. This was also done because it gives me the experience i need for future jobs, introducing me and my peers to different types of audition processes is essential as it means we aren't as nervous when going to an audition. This process in particular will be extremely useful as this is the type of auditions expected from drama schools and universities to get in, which i am hoping to do in the future. Tuesday 16th April Today was the first day back for me as i wasn't able to come in the Monday, so i started the day with my auditions for the end of year show! I was nervous when i first came into college but i went over my monologue a few times and i felt confident enough for my audition. I feel like it went quite well and it is a piece i enjoy performing so i will definitely keep it for future references. After the auditions, i joined the rest of the class and we started doing a read through of the two plays! We all sat in a big circle and people stood up in the centre to read in for different characters. This was good because it gave everyone a chance to see the scripts and characters out loud and on its feet, therefore allowing people to get a better idea of the characters they are interested in.
