My Production Journey - Production Diaries (Year 1, Term 1)

Monday 11th September - Improvisation Today was our first actual day at college and we were in the theatre all day. We started out with a quick game of cat and mouse. Everyone links arms with one other person and someone is the cat and the mouse. The mouse has to run from the cat and link onto someone to be safe, whoever wasn't linked in that duo now is the mouse and has to run. This was fun, we did this to get our bodies warmed up and ready to start the lesson. We then moved on to looking into the importance of improvisation and how it is used throughout the acting world. The main reason this was introduced straight away is to prepare us for our first performance at The Globe Theatre in Stockton, as it is a promenade performance, meaning the audience is able to interact with us, so we have to be able to keep up an act with them in c...

The Start Of Something...

Starting Out We started out this year by getting to know our new classmates that we are going to be working with over the year. This included starter games to get to know everyone's names, such as 'speed dating,' warm up exercises to get us moving and just generally giving us a taster for what we are going to be doing over the year. I found this enjoyable because it made me feel more comfortable going into college and starting our practical work straight away knowing i already know people a little bit more. When i first went for the taster days for the course, i was excited straight away, i knew that this was the right course for me and I didn't doubt it for a minute. Everyone was so friendly and i enjoyed being around everyone and getting to know everyone. I think the best part of this course will be getting to know everyone and working with other people who have different acting styles to me as i enjoy seeing how every person puts a different creative twist on their w...
