The Start Of Something...

Starting Out

We started out this year by getting to know our new classmates that we are going to be working with over the year. This included starter games to get to know everyone's names, such as 'speed dating,' warm up exercises to get us moving and just generally giving us a taster for what we are going to be doing over the year. I found this enjoyable because it made me feel more comfortable going into college and starting our practical work straight away knowing i already know people a little bit more. When i first went for the taster days for the course, i was excited straight away, i knew that this was the right course for me and I didn't doubt it for a minute. Everyone was so friendly and i enjoyed being around everyone and getting to know everyone. I think the best part of this course will be getting to know everyone and working with other people who have different acting styles to me as i enjoy seeing how every person puts a different creative twist on their work. However, i think that our first performance at Halloween will be the most difficult task of the year, as it is based around improvisation and devising, which i struggle with as i prefer script work. I am most looking forward to learning how to become a better actor and a better person within that, acting allows my confidence to grow and learning new techniques is the perfect way to allow me to become more creative and become a better actor, growing my confidence.

Who am I as an actor at this moment in time?

At this moment in time my acting career has been more musically based. In primary school, i was the star in nativity with a singing solo and i also attended the Forum Theatre Company. Through the forum i did a few shows, having a short monologue in one of them. I also auditioned for Peter Pan the pantomime through this. Then from 2017 - 2019 i attended a dance company called Emma Green Dance and through this i did musical theatre and singing solos as well as dancing. In my years at this dance company I did 6 shows, having solos in 3 of them. I had singing solos in all three, two being musical theatre pieces - Anne, 'it's a hard knock life' and The Jungle Book, 'I wanna be like you.' The other solo is also sort of musical theatre, yet it was just me i wasn't on stage with anyone else. I sang a solo at the Arc in Stockton, Les Misérables, 'castle on a cloud.' Everything else was performing dances in places such as Egglescliffe School, the Arc and Billingham Synthonia.
