Section 1: Rationale (approx. 100 words)

Throughout my first 11 units at college i have developed so much as not only an actor but a person. Before joining the course, the only knowledge and skill i had was from GCSE, which was minimal and i wasn't used to playing big roles. Throughout my time at college, i have learnt more technique through feedback, practitioners and being on stage. The course has given me the opportunity to build my confidence in playing larger roles - two great examples being Pinocchio and Phyllis. Starting at college, i did not want to go to drama school / university but due to the knowledge and skill i've recieved here, it helped me realise i want to improve my skill even more and therefore pushed myself to be going to drama school in London.

Section 2: Project concept (approx. 200 words)

My first goal for this project is to get off script. This may seem like a simple goal, however Phyllis will be my biggest role yet and has a lot of lines, and it is something i would like to get right early on so i am not panicking further down the line. To achieve this i will be looking at my script in spare time, as well as going over it with my peers when given the chance.

My next goal for this project is to work on my volume. The venue we are performing in is a large space as it is a museum, therefore i need to be able to be heard whilst also supporting myself vocally. To achieve this goal, i will do projection exercises as well as work on using the accent in my stage voice.

Finally, my last goal would be to ensure my characterisation is to the best of its ability. To complete this goal, i will go over my script and write in how i think i say all my lines individually as the character, as well as look into the original production and watch the movie and do research about the time period.

Section 3: Evaluation (approx. 50 words)

The way i am going to reflect and improve on my skill is by listening and taking in the notes / feedback given to me by Tom and incorporating them into my performance. I will also look back at my production diary and videos taken my peers and see room for improvement. After the project is over, i will look back at all of the above and see if i managed to take everything on board correctly.

Proposed research sources and bibliography (Harvard format)

This section provides an opportunity to record the initial research sources, both primary and secondary, that you intend to use. Your sources of research should be as wide as possible, including libraries, museums and galleries, books, theatre/ film/video, magazines, TV/radio programmes, web sites etc. Where appropriate you should use the Harvard system of referencing. The bibliography should be continuously updated as the project progresses.

See Research Post.
